Just curious. Seems like the ultimate accessory.

I asked a very similar question a while back....

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=376496&highlight=escape+pod

My favorite response gave me the name "escape pod" which is now what I call my bike every time I toss it in the bus.

way back when, I did carry a mini bike or a CB 100 (inside), but it was for a kid to ride. This was an old school mini with a 5 hp Briggs, Doing that again I'd want a pit bike

i built a rack for the back of my westy to haul around my old 74 honda CL200. perfect bike to take for supplies when you don't wanna break camp, and its a good conversation piece.

matty, any documentation on your rack? looking to haul my 50cc moped. drove it from NC to CA at 25mph, now looking to take it back, albeit via a slightly faster method... Very Happy

tell ya what . I laugh like hell every time I see someone carrying any bike on the outside, it's tell tale sign, you don't ride very often or your not going very far,,

I pick up on this one real quick, after a few 100 miles and your bike is covered with shit off the road. It goes covered or inside or it don't go

I fit a full size motorcycle in my bay once... A guy at my old work used to keep a pocket bike in the trunk of his Honda called it his spare tire.

I have an old Trail 90 that I fit in my westy. Front tire snugs up right between the front seats. Great to use when you get to a camping spot and want to go somewhere close by but don't want to load up camp.

50cc yamaha scooter rolls right up into the walkthrough and stands there. Just need to have the bed folded into the seat position. '71 westy. Of course with the help of the Samba the bus runs much better and I don't feel the need to take it with me as much. It's great for roaming around when you want to leave your bus at the camp sight.

It looks great, and folds up and collapses into a circle to fit in a spare tyre well, trouble is VW have great concept ideas and then don't follow through.

That looks like fun. What’s the best way to strap down a mini bike inside a bus safely, should an accident occur? For that matter your buddy’s Yeti cooler? I’d love to bring a 70s Honda Z50 along on some road trips. The paranoia of having a combustion engine with any amount of fuel in the tank has kept me from doing this. I don’t want a big rack in front or behind the bus. Just want to toss in the mini bike and go. Thoughts?

Ah, just throw it in there and hope for the best. 🤷‍♂️ But, I do live in the country.

Get a Jermeryrickjock hitch and put it on the back. Maybe do something custom and incorporate trays for bikes as well.

In stead of a mini bike, what about an E-bike? All I see is people riding them around these days, super popular on the festival scene right now.

If you are community camping, leave the ICE bikes home, they are as annoying as generators, but we can’t open the oil drain plug on them when you leave them running at your site to power your home entertainment center.
