I find it easier with a helper to hold the MC or thread in the two mounting bolt while
I do the other part, but have done this 100% by myself twice. When I last changed the MC in my 1970 sedan, I happened to have the gas tank out already, so did it that way; propped the MC into place to get the bolts started.

On my 1971 Super, I did NOT remove the tank, still did the job from underneath; did remove the front left wheel though.

Excellent progress! It should be back to running in a few weeks. Right?

You got new transmission oil back in there right? It sucks when you forget that one!

Can't find it in the diagrams either, but a big wire has to go to something that requires more power, right?
Can you get a better idea of its purpose by locating the other end?
With the end being soldered on like that, I wonder if it used to have a different end or something.
Color-wise it's gotta be a positive wire.

I believe Frank from Germany is referring to your right-side tie rod (the longer one), and he is right. It is indeed bent.
