Hi all. I'm new to VW and recently acquired a T2 needing love. I'm building an engine that I'm pretty sure will be 1641 with new cylinders and DP heads. Prolly a mild cam as well. So.... reading around I'm seeing that there are transmission options. This is not something I had considered when I started but now I have to ask.... First, is this something to pursue? Whats the best if you have $$$$, and what kind of money? Then, whats the most reliable? |

With that engine, stick with a stock geared transmission. The engineers got it right on that one. Don’t go with a taller fourth gear until you get north of around 2000cc. And then probably closer to sea level. I’m sure most on the forum will agree. _________________ If you haven't bled on them, you haven't worked on them.

I you want longer gearing, go with 27x8.5R14 or 195r14 tires and see how you like it, easy to change back to stock if you lose too much tractive effort. |
