While traveling at interstate speeds on a recent hot day the fan's low speed kicked on a time or two as expected. Later in the afternoon as temperatures reached near 100 degrees the low speed came on and shortly thereafter the high speed kicked in. When the high speed kicked in, it sounded as if the fan was going to come through the dashboard. Is the noise telling me the fan needs replaced or is there lubrication or other maintenance that should/can be done? Thanks.

Thanks for the quick and helpful feedback. I'll check my mounts to ensure they are tight because it's exceptionally noisy. If they're tight we'll live with knowing the fan is working as designed. Great older thread. Thanks for sharing. I need to learn better search techniques so as to minimize the amount of needless post-clutter when issues have been previously discussed.

My fan was pretty noisy, and at times seemed to be rubbing on the fan housing. I recently had the whole assembly out to replace the radiator, and at that time replaced the fan blade ( a 3 bladed unit- I assume the stock one ) with one I got from GW. I inspected the motor, tightened it all up and added a bigger ground. It is super quiet now, even in high speed mode. |
