Replaced fuel pump, gaskets, and filters. Still leaking oil around the fuel pump gasket. Gasket was sealed. What else could be wrong? |

Maybe a crack in the bakelite base that's between the pump and the engine block?
Just think'n.

There is one thing I can think of that might cause oil to leak out from below the fuel pump stand... excessive case pressure. This is often caused by piston blow by due to bad piston rings. This also shows up sometimes as oil flowing out from the front side (snout side) of the crank pulley.
Are you running a crankcase vent or an oil breather box? The stock engine used a hose from the oil filler opening to the air cleaner to draw excess case pressure and oil vapors out from the case. When you replace the stock air cleaner this is often lost.
Are you certain it is oil coming out from the pump/pump stand? Is it coming from below the pump flange or below the stand where it meets with the case?
Could it be the grease you packed into the pump when you replaced it (you did pack it with grease, right?) being diluted by fuel dripping down from the pump at the top into the greased body below? This would suggest a bad pump that is leaking from the diaphragm.
The reason I doubt you have oil coming up from the engine and flowing out from the pump area... the fuel pump stand/spacer pokes down into the case hole mostly blocking the path for oil to flow up. What little oil makes it up needs to pass the gasket under the stand (you installed a gasket below and above the pump stand, right?). It is even harder for oil to make it into the space above the pump stand as it would need to pass by the fuel pump pushrod. _________________ AshMan40
