Contemplated computing the per mile cost of driving our car so far.
I estimate it at slightly above the hourly cost of flying an E-4 Nightwatch.
https://www.wearethemighty.com/articles/air-forces-10-expensive-planes

The E-4 doesn’t have beauty rings.

Have to give a shout-out to Kaefer-Nostalgie though— give me a deal on my second set of beauty rings.

Well actually, two sets and one for the spare.
The way these pop off they seem like consumables.

You just have to bend the tags out a bit so they bite into that fresh, fleshy, pristine powdercoat. Horrifies a lot of restorers. Laughing

See, that’s why you need to emigrate to the US.

No I'm happy here but I do visit the colonies when I think they need my support. However it is 10 years since we last graced your shores.

Be sure to take a ride on the Mi Dushi. The cargo net in front of the bow is the place to be. Nice breeze, just feet off the water, & all of the wake splashes into the boat while you stay dry.

Never mind, it seems that the original wooden ship is no longer.

Thanks for the tip, TD, but this was years ago… just got around to putting a video together for it.

I FOUND IT!

Well, since I never let on that it was misplaced I can understand if you are not as excited as I am.

A while back we were going to try to attach the visors properly but when I looked in the box where I keep the visor jewelry, one of the small chrome clips was not there. We proceeded to look throughout the car, the barn, the environs, to no luck. I had not emptied the garbage with the intent of going through it with a fine toothed comb.

But, as I said at the start, I found it! The weather is getting a bit chilly around here so I put on a jacket that I hadn’t worn since the spring. When I put my hands in its pockets, yep, a smooth, small metal piece was in there. Pulled it out and could not believe it. I must have put it there with the intent to put it back in its box and then completely forgotten about it. Whew, I am not sure that we could have found another at any price and it would have always nagged at me.

So now, we are ready to try to get the mirror/visor assembly on correctly. It is currently just attached by the screws that hold in the mirror. I say “hold in” somewhat optimistically as the screw holes have clearly seen better days. I have tried wrapping the screws in that blue filmy stuff but it does not seem to last during the motion of driving. I’m thinking the next size up screw but am not sure how the chrome of the mirror is going to like that.

Is there some prescribed method for dealing with this problem?

Also still need to get the passenger side visor about a quarter of an inch further on the rod. If you recall, been working on this since, well since I put the retainer in my pocket last spring! I think I need to take it all down (after marking where I think the visor needs to push on up to) and try some lube. I have given some thought to trying to ream out the hole in the visor but there is no plan B for when I screw that up.

Lastly, we need to poke around and find the screw holes for the “arrows” under the headliner without messing up the headliner. Seems that this is a recurring theme— finding hidden screw holes. Any hints on that conundrum?

Planning our first out of state excursion for tomorrow!
Stay tuned!

You have made a Gem out of a Turd that is now worth MUCH more than your initial purchase price.
I think you should sell it and buy another "fixer-upper" with the profit and do it again.
