Just recently purchased 67 Baja Bug is missing it's cylinder head shrouds. I don't have anything to reference against and I'm hoping someone can help. I'm guessing it is 2 parts per cylinder, the part that goes around the cylinder and one that bolts on from underneath. It's a 1600 dual port engine. Are they year or engine specific. I have a chance to buy a 1500 engine for $100 but l don't think there's much l could use off it. |

You need dual port tins.

The guy l went to see today was garage cleaning, He had a couple 1600 engines for $1000 each. I thought was high but he had a completed Baja kit and a metal engine cover for $200 😲 and it looked brand new.. l just don't have the room for it but l thought that was a heck of a deal |

Yes, there is a tin that bolts to the front of the top cylinder tin in the front that goes down and back under the cylinders. These come in two pieces for each side. There is also a small tin that bolts onto the rear of the upper cylinder tin and extends down a couple of inches. _________________ 1965 VW Sedan, 1968 C10 Step BB, 99 C5 |

Is all the tin other than the dual port upper tin, interchangeable between the earlier engine and the 1600 ? |

Not really.
The Single Port and Dual Port engines have different heads and oil coolers, thus different tins, fan shrouds and fans. _________________ Volkswagen!
