|

I recently purchased new TMI seat coverings. Looking for advice on what I should do for the seat padding. Should I get new foam padding or go with the "hair" padding. What's best? Anyone have pics of new seats with foam and new with hair?
TIA |

It really depends on what your restoration path is.
Are you going for a factory stock look, or a more "custom" look??
For as close to the factory stock look and feel as possible, choose the fiber "hair" pads from W.W.
If you want a cushier, more "Pillsbury Dough-boy" look and feel - go with the foam pads.
Photo below of a stock Pigalle 1966 seat in it's original factory upholstery, showing how the correct pads (fiber "hair") will look:

I am 6' 5" and the over stuffed foam just don't work for me. It feels like I am jammed in the car the way they are now. I will use the hair style pads when I re-do mine. |

We bought a '66 once and the (redone) seats were overstuffed with foam padding - did not suite me - bought a set of stock seats from thesamba classifieds and installed- was heavenly - z _________________ 5/50, pastel green 11G - SOLD

Puffy padded seats look terrible on a VW... for anyone who isn't aware.
WW coconut fiber seat pads fit and look the best by a long shot and are not uncomfortable at all. _________________ 1967 Bug ( the daily rod )

I am not sure who sells the one you are referring to. I have the TMI foam pads, they look just like stock. I wanted to use the coconut fibers but they were out of stock for over 6 months. I am glad I didn't wait any longer, these have been great for my daily driver. |
