Just recently purchased 67 Baja Bug is missing it's cylinder head shrouds. I don't have anything to reference against and I'm hoping someone can help. I'm guessing it is 2 parts per cylinder, the part that goes around the cylinder and one that bolts on from underneath. It's a 1600 dual port engine. Are they year or engine specific. I have a chance to buy a 1500 engine for $100 but l don't think there's much l could use off it.

You need dual port tins.

Here’s a link to a layout of the tin.

https://www.awesomepowdercoat.com/original-german-engine-tin-kits

You need cylinder head tin, #2 & #4 lower rear air deflectors, sled tin for both sides and lower cylinder head air deflectors. So there are a bunch of tin that all to together to cover the heads and our rod tubes.

Yes, there is a tin that bolts to the front of the top cylinder tin in the front that goes down and back under the cylinders. These come in two pieces for each side. There is also a small tin that bolts onto the rear of the upper cylinder tin and extends down a couple of inches.

Is all the tin other than the dual port upper tin, interchangeable between the earlier engine and the 1600 ?

Not really.
The Single Port and Dual Port engines have different heads and oil coolers, thus different tins, fan shrouds and fans.
