I was setting up at a campground and looked down on the floor in front of the bench seat and saw this. It's possible it's not even a Vanagon part, but the wear marks mean it did something important!

Stump the chump. I thought I knew every part on these vans. I am intrigued.

Now it's bugging me. I swear I've seen that part on one of my Westfalias.

Probably not, as ID is small but is it from a rear bench seat hinge? edit. Meant:

"rear bed hinge".

A sliding pin in the Z bed mechanism? You have a full width folding bench?

No, 1985 arm rest is molded hard plastic that slips over the armrest pin. At the outer fastening end is a washer and a screw.
No metal bushing.

The wear marks are similar to a throttle body accelerator cable clamp. Two sheet metal surfaces with space for the cable end in between.
But that isn’t what it is……..

I have a Westfalia. We pulled out the bed and didn't notice anything unusual about the mechanism.

Assuming the part doesn't have a part number, it's likely westfalia related?
