Can anybody supply any further information on the 1951 Split that Kevin Zager has or had for sale. It is the triple fold ragtop split in blue that has been for sale since March. I am sure it cost more than the $115K obo it is being asked, but.......... |

it's gota' lotta' wrong stuff - but besides that, people don't realize, that when you deviate from original - you do it for yourself and usually loose money - pretty car, in some ways - but not my taste is why it's not sold yet - bet others feel that way also - too bad - yeah, it's "trick" all right ...
… thanks for the ad-link - z _________________ 5/50, pastel green 11G - SOLD

WHY would you spend 300k, drive it 300 miles and sell it for 100k? _________________ CH³NO²

I learned something from Splitdog, a while back - did you ever see his car? Far from stock, yet it really seems there's a market, for that sorta' thing - I don't think a huge market, but a market - I ate my own words - as the Buddha says - there is more than one way, to view everything and this is a perfect example - not my taste, but may be worth $100K, to someone - thanks - z _________________ 5/50, pastel green 11G - SOLD

i like quite a few of the customer touches, like doorhandles and bumpers with cutouts. i like the instruments. the engine is pretty sweet i think. suspension and brakes are awesome along with the 5-speed and even the wheels. the seats do nothing for me, nor do the upholstered pods.
I would never build or buy this car, but i see no reason to hate on it. it is a restomod, just like many other restomods from 32 ford to 69 camaro.
i think after 4-5 years of showing it the owner is ready to move on, if they clear 100k, that is a good start for a new project. _________________ regards

I agree. I personally like a smaller degree of modification in a VW but who's to say? People put LS1 motors and 700R trannies and Chevy A arms and steering columns all the time now in 40's and 50's cars. They say they drive awesome. Where do you stop?
I just find it strange that someone is willing to take a 200k hit to do these things. Splitjunkie, I would never pay 100k for it, but he's asking, what, 115? _________________ CH³NO²

The original owner that had the car built died. |

This picture says it all for me.
Just cut out what you need and leave a jagged, unreinforced or finished edge. You can also see three holes in the firewall that you can see the back of the carpet or padding through. These sorts of things always makes me wonder what else they half assed. _________________ Chris

yes, there is no way thats a 300k built car, and if it is, the owner got robbed.
poor custom choices....like the majority of that car...rarely hold their initial value. _________________ drive your split. |

Goes to show that what's important at SEMA isn't necessarily important to the rest of the world.
I've got some "non stock" plans for my 52, but nothing that can't fairly easily be changed back to stock. _________________ modok wrote:

From my limited experience at SEMA, I can say with certainly that most of the builds are done in a rush. I saw many questionable issues on many of the cars there. I think this helps to escalate the true quality builds that usually stand out. Don't forget, what happens in Vegas.....lol _________________ Terry Gaudet
