Complete left-field guess, that aint based on any real knowledge:
If un-restored... $4,500 TOPS, IMO.
Reality? Whatever someones willing to pay...

My insurance agent put a replacement value of 20k US on my 73 super. It's just a solid daily driver - far from a restored show car.
It'd take a whole stack of Benjamin's to pry the title out of hands though... _________________ Repeat after me "I am smarter than metal!" |

Hagerty valuation shows #1 for a 73 at $28k -- values have gone up over time, but also very few cars are #1 or #2. |

That seems pretty far fetched. Mine is insured for $10K but in reality if I sold it I would be lucky to get half that. _________________ Beeble1, ‘73 Super (o\_|_/o) 1600cc w/ Dealer A/C

^^^^^^this is reality. Having a late model bug isn’t gonna be your retirement nest egg, lol. Look at the classified adds. |

Whobba, I have my 1974 Sun Bug sedan insured with Hagerty for $8,000, despite the exorbitant asking prices I see for other 1974 Super Beetles (upwards to $25,000 in the Samba Classifieds).
A local would offer me $7,000 tops; but someone back East would go higher, no doubt, due to the lack of VW survivors back there, as well as the fact that my Super retains the stock, German, carb/distributor setup, engine displacement, and most other stock components.
We have too many Bugs here in town, I guess, and I don’t believe these high-priced Supers are getting anywhere near their asking prices in my locality, or elsewhere, for that matter.
Maybe I’m behind times, and prices have really gone up in the past five years. I really don’t know.

Of course anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay, but I can share what I observed during my searches.
Sunroofs can demand a little more than a hardtop if everything else is equal, sunroofs not as common. Convertibles demand even more that that.
Supers that are mostly complete and close to a daily, or current daily have been listed for 4-6K.
Supers that need work (typical rust) or are missing pieces have been listed from 3-5K.
Supers that need major work like heater channels, floor pans, seats, headliner have been 2-3K.
Supers from estates or families that are all original and in good condition have been listed anywhere from 7-10K.
Supers that have been sitting outside, weather damaged, not running or missing drivetrain listed from 1-4K. Running motor makes a difference.
Supers that have been mostly or completely restored are listed at 8-14K.
New engine, bigger engine, upholstery seems to affects this range.
Mr. Donahoe is fair in his assessment of his own vehicle.
It is well maintained and in very good condition compared to most Supers I have seen, including my own (current state). He could probably get what he asks.
Keep in mind that these are some of the ASKING prices, I would have no idea what the SELLING price was.
Just my nickel and dime.
Good Luck in your search. _________________ 74 Super Sun Bug - OTTO

Victor, you should have offered before I went to the trouble of installing the sound deadening and new carpet. That effort pretty much invested me for a few more years, at least .
