Does the oil pressure switch (for the oil light) have a tapered thread or a parallel thread with a washer?

The leaking one that is fitted is a tapered thread, like a VW switch and the new one that I have bought is a straight thread with a washer.

The switch should have DIN thread which is not tapered. Tapered pipe threads are real close and some people just run a tapered pipe tap into the hole but doing that will mean no going back.

Thank you. I will try the new straight thread switch.

I’ve never seen an original 356 engine that didn’t have a tapered ops. Service of thousands of examples dating back to 1966, still in the trenches 5 day a week
