Was looking at my shifting linkage parts and noticed the bracket looks off. The left side looks good and have found photos from the left side but not right side. Right side is oddly shaped and thicker than the left. Looks like it may have been built up with weld but hard to tell.

i would love to see some photos from the right and top so I can fix this one if it is indeed modified.

There is sort of a weird cutout on one side.

The center opening, which is the important part to be tight on the shift rod, measures as 23mm with my ruler.

Excellent. Thanks!

So mine is not as bad as I thought. Just the odd thickness on that side. Once it is media blasted I may see what is up with that. Also has a little twist. Anyway it should be an easy fix.

I measured 24mm inside but that was a ruff measurement. The metal around the hole didn't look thin and was even so should be good. Also the little spring clip thing was good with no ware.

Update: I measured the interior circle diameter with my micrometer and it looks to be 22.6mm.

There is a little variation depending on where I measure it in the circle, probably due to the somewhat sloppy paint job.

Thanks. I will do an accurate measure on mine tonight.

I notice your bracket has different nuts. I wonder if that was a change after 54?

I noticed that too - your bracket is an original since it has the earlier style weld-on nuts, which ended in later 1955 sometime.

I'm assuming it's the same otherwise but cannot be 100% certain.

Now I'm wondering if my '55 Barndoor has the original one as that would be a good indicator but the pedal pan is on...
