Thank you for posting, Carsten.
What a fantastic original car…probably a rare colour, too.
It shows original cover detail. 3 heat-seams down each side.
Here is some nice detail from a recent ad:
Thank you for the pictures, Jeroen. _________________ -StockRocks- |

An original Turquoise car recently found in Idaho.
Check that colour coded sunroof.

Detail
From an ad for a sunroof cover supposedly removed in the 60s
2-fold cover, so post-55
Quote: |
Original green ragtop cover. I got this from a man who worked at the local dealership in the 60s. There is a scuff on it so it was replaced at the dealership. Perfect for a patina/driver car. It’s a 2 fold cover and I cannot tell what color green it would be. I believe it’s pinpoint vinyl. Darker green than Turkis so...? |
Stitched detail, not heat-seamed…I wonder when the change was? _________________ -StockRocks- |

Born in 1906 at Ingolstadt, Heinrich Heidersberger spent his childhood partly in Denmark. He started to study architecture in Graz but moved to Paris in 1928, where he focused his work entirely on photography. After World War II, Heidersberger became one of the leading architectural photographers in Germany, working in Salzgitter and Braunschweig before settling in Wolfsburg, where he had worked and lived until he died in 2006. Comprising of more than 130,000 images, Heidersberger’s overall body of work is centered around architecture, reportage, industry and advertising, but also includes algorithmic experiments. Since 2002, the Heidersberger Institute in Wolfsburg has been working on scientific evaluations and publications of the artist’s work |

this is one of my favorite threads on the samba!
I sure wish more owners would put in the additional effort to match their sunroof covers as original. _________________ drive your split. |
