Thanks Applegreenvw. That’s what I thought. Why would that be used on a type4 engine? Very interesting. I’ve never seen one used on a type4 engine. What am I missing here? |
Looks like the same part is use on type 4 air filter housing.

Nice, now I get it. You just blew my mind. 73-74 style air cleaner. Amazing I haven’t seen this mentioned in the bay forums. My 72 bus would’ve been oil bath. And the 76 bus obviously didn’t have that. Thank you for the education. _________________ Keep on Busin'

Just trying to help. Part #s are part #s whether they are used on a beetle or a bus. Yes 73–74 type 4 dual solex with the stock paper filter air filter setup. Just trying to keep it reasonably stock and working… _________________ 1973 ASI Riviera

Did you buy the Volvo part? If so, did it fit and work right? _________________ Parts for sale https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/search.php?username=APPLEGREENVW

That is a great find! Hoping they function at similar temperatures as the ones for a '72-74 Beetle. _________________ Eventually, "we are what we pretend to be.’”

Bump.
The two I ordered arrived today. Has anybody actually installed them yet? They're about 2mm longer than the VW one. Edges can be ground down to fit of course, but wondering. _________________ Eventually, "we are what we pretend to be.’”
