Has anyone seen those in straight? This is the manifold on the main brake zylinder.

Would help me if I don't have to make one on my own Rolling Eyes

Thanks

I found a brake line port that fits... from Porsche...

Let you guys bet how much it is Laughing Laughing Laughing

I have the choice to pay 35 (thirty five) Euro for this little plastic piece or make one myself Rolling Eyes

Alternatively I could buy in the US for 12$ and pay 112$ for shipping. All insane!

Good progress on the rest...

I believe the size of the box is supposed to make up for the horrendous price Laughing

I found one a little cheaper. At least excellent quality and I don't need to make one...

Hi Ian, thanks and yes I hade them made. I like that classic smoothies look on a KG Cool Maybe two tone, not sure yet what will go well with the manila yellow and not using white wall tires...

Starting with 195/55-16 I need to see if I can get more under the body in the rear, but I doubt it. Fronts, 195 max but need to check if they will fit.

Body mods, except for some minor fender flare rolling, is no option in my case.

How about a stock look from a '64 and '65, using slightly deeper/wider 16" trim rings than the original 15" Lemmerz ones so that they extend deeper down along the outer rim? You can find such rings that are either smooth along their depth, or have a rib for an additional visual break. Here's a shot of Sebastian Gaeta's Manila Yellow original '64 Ghia with the stock 4" black-painted 15" smoothies and the rings.

That is a very nice looking Ghia! I like the chrome ring idea too - thank you!

I think my 65 came with aluminum beauty rings and I do not care so much for them, but those chrome rings are classy. Two tone may be a little over the top for my rather stock looking project. Anyone elso an opinion? Very Happy

I need to find out what road speeds the rings are rated for...

Cheers!

Still not sure how to paint the wheels yet...

Some more laser cut parts arrived today:
The spacers in the centre are to replace the brake backing plate in the rear.

Those brackets are good. the alignment for the sway bar looks much better.

With those master cylinders with the tube sticking out into the foot well, sometimes you need to shorten the tube or increase the inner radius of the tube to stop the push rod binding when the pedal is fully depressed.
Don't make it too short though, as the seal in the master cylinder seals against it.
If you need photo I can send one Smile

Ian, always good advice - Thank you!

The brake cylinder rod will not bind the tube unless I move the pedal further back than required. I was worried about having to cut the tube but got away not having to Cool

Nut sure how the dust boot will fit yet...

Hi Antoine, thank you...

I will need your metal shaping knowledge very soon when it comes to fitting the body onto the pan and making this dimple that I have seen on yours:

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I know it is original on yours, but I like to replicate it to clear my Berg5.

I was going to put a sandbag on the inside of the body and start hammering from the inside in circles to the outside?

That ist exactly how I would do it ! And better goes slowly with a lot of gentle hammer impact than trying to move a lot faster and making it complicated to planish/look clean after. I would use such a hammer :
https://images.app.goo.gl/H4pb8JzAXf1xoo5u6
And hammer first with the bigger side to make a more uniform impact instead of thousand small ones. Wink
Be careful, shaping metal can turn to be addictive Wink

Hi Lars,

I just stumbled upon this thread and what can I say?! Wow, great work! I like your thinking outside the box and I am really looking forward to the progress in your ghia, the gearbox and finally your big engine.
Keep up the great work!

Antoine, thank you very much for confirming and the recommodation for the hammer. I will buy one like this and practice a little before hammering the Ghia Wink

Hi Tobi, great to hear from you! Cool

Your own 2.8 Oxy really inspired me a lot! I have most of the parts together for mine and may start an extra thread on the engine build soon.

The chassis has been taking forever but its coming along now, sorry it will not fit the cal look with the bottom end also lowered Twisted Evil Laughing Laughing Laughing

Cheers

Lars, the sand bag idea should work, I haven't tried one.
I use a leather bag full of lead shot to 'back it up'. I know some peeps also use steel shot. You'll need a helper to hold it I imagine. I tend to start with a steel hammer then go to the softer hammer.

I made the grease cap on the right this way, then pressed the outer rim flat, then sanded and polished off the peen marks.

it will be interesting to see what other tools are recommended for metal shaping.
