I’m working on a 67 Fastback. I just finished installing an ISP West wiring harness and am working on getting everything dialed in. I got the left hand turn signals working well. But the right ones aren’t working. There is no power coming from the block on top of the steering column for the right side. And when I took the turn signal switch off to check and clean the contacts, I noticed that of the two brass spring loaded contact strip on the back of the switch, the one on the inside was missing. Am I correct in assuming that this is why I don’t have right hand signals? _________________ If you`re going to do something, do it right. |

If you mean that the inner one is missing - no. That was used for the Parking lights only. Cars built for markets that didn't require parking lights/side markers have a turn signal switch that only has the outer contact strip.
First picture is turn signal arm that would have been installed in a car with parking lights/side markers, second picture (different perspective) is for one without parking lights/side markers. If you look close - you can see that the inner one is not present.
Additionally, the connection should have 4 spade connectors vs. 6 for a non-US car (the other two are for the parking lights.

Hmmm… well there was 6 wires coming off the back of the column, but only one contact strip on the switch. Any ideas on why there’s no power for the right side then? _________________ If you`re going to do something, do it right. |

Well, the parts from both type of contact plate/turn signal arm are interchangeable as long as you stay with the parts from the same manufacturer (SWF or Koln). It's possible the contact plate was replaced and all that could be found was the 'side marker' version. They seem to be easier to find.
No power for the right side...Check the grounds, bulbs, is the flasher dead on that side, bad contact plate (right side is dead/wires are broken)...the wires should be black with a green tracer on the right side.
If your 67 is wired stock - you'd have the black or blue 9 pin relay/flasher and that part of it may have failed. You could temporarily disconnect the left side and connect the right side where the left side belongs on the flasher unit - if it works, it's the flasher that failed on the right side. If not, the issue is somewhere else. |

New German bulbs, good ground, new ISP West wiring harness, new Wolfsburg West 9 pin flasher. There is no power coming out of the top of the steering column at the black and green wire. _________________ If you`re going to do something, do it right. |

In your shoes - I'd trace back from where you're testing now to the next connection point and see if it's the same - eventually, you'll find where the power stops. Connection plate (spade connectors at the back of the column) back to the contact plate, clean the brass contacts, back to the flasher, etc.
FWIW - just because something is "new" doesn't mean it works. It doesn't hurt to test the new things to eliminate them from the list. I've had new parts fail out of the box - flashers, bulbs, relays, coils, etc. |
