This is the 67 westy latch on my jump seat.

What is this latch from? Is it from a later westy?

Late 67s and bays have the lower one. The squared off one is correct for an early 67. Nobody knows at what fabrik# the changeover occurred. I wouldn't assume it coincided with introduction of backup lights or anything else.

I checked out this May of 67 Westy today and it has the later bay style handles. It also has chrome cargo door handles and escutcheon.

I hope this helps with narrowing down the switch from early to late handles.

Wow it appears our late 67 Westy's have the bay latches too.

Here is my April 1967 Westy icebox and jump seat. Note the handles are a mix match from the factory using both square and the rounded from the Bay Westy. I know these are original. But I will only guess the Westfalia factory were getting ready for the new Bay Westy kits and may have run out of the square latches? What month did the Bay westy of 1967 begin?

Anyone make the early ones now? I need at least two.

VW switch back to the late ‘67 style because the rectangular handles broke/failed.

Wow very interesting. I originally though I should swap mine for the square style but being my Westfalia is late 67 I'll keep what the factory made. And it's an interesting mix and match which adds to her history Cool

Thanks, LAG. That company in GB has a ton of stuff you couldn’t find a decade ago. Vinyl Flooring. Table top laminate. Curtains. Re-po child’s cot. Someone spent some money in all that.

Wolfsburg West has them but you need to know right or left. The late ones are bi-directional.

What water pump do you have? That ice box could be a different one changed in. I doubt Westfalia mixed handles. The '67 late only are lighter gray (like yours) than the Bay ones. Bay were dark or light but not the same gray.

Wow, BarryL thanks. I wonder which is best? WW seems too light in color. I'm going to keep my mix matched as it is original from the factory with my April 1967 Westy. But thank you kindly for all of us.

Can you post a photo of your water pump Linda? What do your other cupboards have for latches?

I'll get that pump pic when the sun comes up. It's in the cabinet. I seem to have a mix match of handles and they are clearly original to the Westy kit. Which I'll keep for originality and because I don't want to yank them out.
