With that linkage set up it will never run even close to well JEEEZZ!

Move the bell-crank until it's centered between the manifolds . . .
and re-connect the left-side linkage to the rear of the carburetor . . .
keep the right-side linkage on the front end of the carburetor . . .
then ya have near perfection! Wink

Well, since we're discussing it.. And i have your input..

It's real easy sitting there at your keyboard on the Samba to say "do this" or "do that".

Here with the type 4 motor in a type 3 vehicle the carbs are very low, and the throttle cable comes into the compartment rather high.
One could perhaps notch the top of the bellhousing and case to lower the cable coming in a bit, but not much.
The flywheel teeth might saw into the throttle cable.. Confused

Thanks to help from Brent we had some parts cut.

You'll have challenges clearing the pump cams depending upon which side of the carb you pickup your levers.
You'll also notice the plug in a rather inconvenient location
(no i didn't leave the rods bent like this - only mock-up).

Several Samba people have commented over the years how the carb linkage on my setup is "crooked looking" and will never work.
But depending upon the angle you look at it, sometimes it doesn't look crooked.
So does that mean it will work?

It's got roller bearings at the pivot.
It's push-push not push-pull so won't be affected when the engine grows.
The factory dual-carb PDSITs use a similar setup.
It hits both WOT stops at exactly the same time.
Both rods are really close to the same length.
It tips in the same and runs well.

Please don't tell me to get some kind of cross-bar in there.
I have the CB linkage on my Beetle and HATE it.
This linkage has yet to do that uneven 'brupbrup' 2-cylinder tip-in the CB always ends up giving.

Maybe a cable setup like a Sync-Link or Tangerine would be better,
but because these are DCNFs,
I'd have to fab the mounting plates from scratch.

So.
Yeah,
It looks "crooked".
But really,
What exactly is wrong with it,
and what would you do differently?

Thanks Clatter for the feedback.

I've since located a set of manifolds that I think will work, I guess I'll find out when they arrive sometime next week. So the double/triple up on the spacers will not be an issue.

WRT linkage, I'll give my modified Scat universal a try and if it doesn't work the Vintage Speed looks pretty nice; I should have just started there but learning this as I go. Last time I had duals they were Kadrons 25 years ago - the linkage was never that good and I never did get them right when I went from a 1500 SP to a 1600 DP. Now that I don't have to rely on the car every day I can experiment a little, and of course this community has given tremendous input and information that wasn't so obtainable at the time.
