Think it might turn out pretty sweet in any case.
But nothing like a lively discussion on aesthetics on The Samba eh?

We are an eclectic bunch. I guess it was my art teacher side emerging. I paint canvas as well as cars.

Now I would have never guessed that Brau! Perhaps your first comment on the thread should have been a clue to your leanings.

I think we've all displayed an appreciation of art by buying a Ghia. Wink

Yes, The Fever certainly has its aesthetic component John!

I have put in my order for the rendering of our car!

Could hardly get out of the post office parking lot with the querulous crowd that gathered.
One guy asked if I would be willing to trade cars with him— the red one in the background.
He argued that it’s newer.

While the frontal 3/4 pic is a great angle for a Ghia, try taking it from a lower vantage point, it really accentuates the nose & body lines of the side of the car. This also helps make it the dominant focus point while drawing in buildings or scenery behind it.

Just some snaps to share.

What’s the best angle for a Thing?

One of my favorites of the Ghiapet. This angle was primarily used to hide the ugly ass Chrysler mini van behind the Ghiapet.

From the inside looking out. Laughing

Definitely not as photogenic, but the low front quarter works well for it too.

Whenever I find an interesting spot, I’ll take a dozen or so pics, from slightly different angles AND elevations to get the best angle of the car, and or the background, often times using the car, or editing, to hide something that I didn’t like.

Our car has been starting rough recently. And shaking. Eventually calms down but seems to have less power.

Went over what we had done since it ran smoothly.
Valve adjustment (no adjustment necessary).
Tighten fan belt.

Hmm.

Drove it around a bit to warm it up and tried my hand at tuning the carburetor again. Still started up rough the next day.

Well, to do the valve adjustment, we had to pull the distributor cap to free the valves in each cylinder in turn. And removed the valve covers.

Checked the oil (as we did lose a tiny bit when we took of the covers) and it was just above the lowest line. I dribbled some more in but was pretty sure that was not causing the problem.

Checked that the valve covers were on correctly and not leaking.

Then checked each spark plug wire.
Hmm, one did not seem to be as tight on the distributor as the others. That said, I as surprised how much wiggle there is at the spark plug end. We need to look into all that when we get back to the engine.

Well, to make a long story short (I know, too late).
Our car now starts easily as it did, does not shake, and, after another round of carb adjustment (my euphemism for playing aimlessly with the screws), it purrs like the kitten it used to.

Where do I pick up my Boy Scout badge?

You should hang out a sign "VW Mechanic for Hire". Smile

I too have found that it's pretty easy to induce new problems when trying to do repairs. But I love how easy these cars ae to work on.

Great “errand” running pics😎
Was that a Ford Probe of an RX7 offered for trade? Shocked
The artwork is going to be amazing.
I may have to ask for a rendering of Joan & Sophia!
Happy trails!

That's going to turn out great, Michael. The details she puts in are something else, most of her her work comes out like photo quality.

Here's a very amateur pencil sketch of my Ghia I did a few months ago:
