I recently got a '59 Ghia with an almost new 1835cc with dual Solex 28 40 carbs. Installed are 130 main jets and 9f55 idle jets. It runs pretty good but I don't have anything to compare it to.
The motor has about 1000 miles on it , good compression, and the PO says he had a "mild" cam installed. Pertronix dist. and a Vintage Speed pea shooter muffler. Spark plugs are Autolite 425.
Warm idle is 850-900 rpm and the exhaust tip is clean...no black soot. There is an occasional light backfire that doesn't seem to be in any particular rpm range. Spark plug electrode is clean and I'm not sure what the heads are.
Carbs were balanced with a snail. I'd like to know what you guys think about the jetting before I change anything else.
BTW, this is not a racer and I've hardly ever gone over 3200rpm.
TIA. |
