I have a wooden dip stick [ original ] for sale. It's something that I will never use. No reasonable offer refused. |

I just bought a 1961 and am looking for a fuel measuring stick. Does anyone have one for sale or know where I could obtain one? Thanks. |

Just be careful, there is a dropdown choice for up to mid 1955 or after mid 1955 as the gas tank changed shape. _________________ Stop worrying about how much your car will be worth when you are dead and build it to make you happy! |

Here is a folding steel stick that has markings for both fuel tanks:

Tasb, what is the value of the metal folding stick you show in the pics above? The reason I'm asking is I have one of those as well and always wondered what it was worth. _________________ Terry Gaudet

I just got a Volkswagen wood dipstick from a 56 Canadian car. One side has 9gal increments and sais "up to and including 1960 models only"
The flip side reads "for 1961 models and onwards" "car only" 9gal
I thought the change from square tank to hump tank would be different???
One day I will test it in both tanks |

If someone can measure the spacing from the bottom to the top then people can make their own. I want to make one for my 54 and my early buses. I use just a plain bamboo stick to check fuel height in the double cab right now. |
I would like to make one for my Beetle as well.
Could someone maybe take a picture of the fuel stick next to a yard stick or tape measure etc? _________________ https://www.facebook.com/groups/2778888602388847/?ref=share

the other option is to make the stick, empty the tank then fill it with known amounts of petrol and use those levels for the markings _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

In this picture you can see the correct storage location of the dipstick when not in use:

Is there any point in buying/making one for my 63? The filler neck of course is on an angle. Would I get a true reading?
It's not that I don't trust my fuel gauge...I just don't really trust my fuel gauge...after it hits 'R'.

just carry a full petrol can so you wont run out...my niece's modern car was still showing a 50 mile range when it ran dry. _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

I'm wondering about this dipstick I got in a large collection of VW parts. Any ideas if it is VW related even? It's not wooden, but seems to be alluminum.
