I recently purchased a early 73 super beetle. Wanting to do a disc brake conversion. Are all the kits using the same parts (I mean the ones that look like own parts). I see empi, cub performance, and topline. Is one better?
Also, what wheel specs do I need to look for to make sure the wheels don’t interfere with the caliper? |

Call topline (Jon) he will get you what you need and the stock wheels will work as long as they are 15s. |

You’ll pay about $100 more through Topline, compared to Empi, but with Topline, you’ll get a far better brake line arrangement, as well as new FAG bearings.
I went with an Empi kit about nine years ago, and it has worked beautifully. However, the brake lines in the kit required precise bending, and I had to use my old bearings and races.

I would go with the Topline kit vs EMPI. I couldn't because Topline only sells parts for supers. I went with the EMPI kit and while it works, the parts are cheaply forged (had to send one caliper back because the fitment was so poor) and it randomly squeals incredibly loudly (others have complained about the same issue.) _________________ I'm the humblest guy on this board.

For my 1971 Super, I'm pretty much waiting until I need front drums to switch over to front discs - decided that a few years ago. I also decided then to use Topline Parts, and get everything from them. They know for sure what works and fits. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each.
