I'm glad this build is continuing, and has gone to be put together by someone who knows just how these things were constructed, going to be an awesome thread to follow again.
I have some questions, how much of the original vert will be used in this reconstruction? And is it possible now to build a complete new body?
Also I'm someone who prefers not to use Facebook etc, so I'm also glad to see these amazing pictures on the best site for vintage VW's, thanks for sharing. _________________ When I think of something to say - I'll be the first to know

I’m super stoked that members here can enjoy the build also.
So to answer your questions,
The panels that we are able to save/reuse are the most rare and most important to its unique coach-built identity, Those are the Karmann Factory panels. The majority of the VW sheet metal was a lose unfortunately.
As for a new/vintage Beetle, the industry has come a long way but it is quite a ways off before that is a possibility.
Thanks for following along.

Thanks for the reply Jason, good to know the Karmann panels are being saved, shame a lot of the VW panels are lost, but at least there are some excellent replacement metal available to fill the gaps.
Continue your great work 🔥 _________________ When I think of something to say - I'll be the first to know

Thank you Wrenn for your excellent work ethic's and experience to be able to save my 51 convertible from it's certain death. The future is looking really good for it now and once again it will be rolling on its original 16's tall and proud! Thank you |

This is amazing work. So when the semaphore aperture was welded up, they went to the trouble of removing the insert part, was that only ever bolted in place or welded in from the factory, as I'm not familiar with a kabriolet only a regular sedan style semaphore?
Great progress and thanks for sharing, the tools and bench you use are so amazing, plus of course your skill in using them, this body is in safe hands. _________________ When I think of something to say - I'll be the first to know
