come on just because you had one big conglomerate actively not gving a s*it about their products... when I was a kid there was a guy with a green Regent (Allegro built by Innocenti when Leyland took control of them) living nearby, that car was the laughing stock of everyone. And I mean everyone, Prinz, DAFfodil and Skoda 120 owners included. _________________ cars:

My '59 Beetle and it's older two-wheeled German sibling - a 1957 Maicomobil.
And once again with a few more Germans - a Heinkel Tourist and a Maicoletta

Our dad is a huge Triumph fan (many TR3's) - each of us kids had a "Lucas, Prince of Darkness" t-shirt at one time or another. _________________ Xargaret

About 30 years ago, my brother's brother-in-law rented a beautiful Rolls Royce Silver Shadow convertible for the day of his wedding. Of course we had to check it out, and popped the hood.
In this example of British Motoring, the Queen's car... was a Frigidaire A/C compressor and an AC/Delco alternator.
I guess the embarrassment of this offense was less than the sight of a RR being towed for electrical failures!
I've got a photo of my brother in his surfing jams in the driver's seat with his board hanging our the back seat, hilarious!
As we drove around in jeans and t-shirts, we figured we looked like either drug dealers or rock stars.

I used to know somebody who worked at the RR works in the eighties. he said everything was was graded into three levels - top, good, acceptable. the cars with all the top rated parts/finish went to the arabs, good ones to the states and the home market got the 'acceptable'. this was driven by the importance of the markets and the fact that the brits would accept anything with an RR badge and were less prone to complain or fuss. _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

from the shape of the logo & badge on the engine cover, I'd say a FSM 126p (same thing as a FIAT 126, all later 126s sold internationally were made by FSM anyway) _________________ cars:

I've owned a couple of fiat 126 cars in the past, a good cheap and cheerful drive although sadly both were solid roof cars without sunroofs. saw loads of the polski fiats running around poland in the mid 90s during a visit - seemed no limit on what people would load into/onto them - they called it 'maluch' or toddler. _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

It's a nice and fun car to drive, we had one in the family but quality was a bit hit and miss, I remember it spending more time being fixed than driven. _________________ cars:
