|
|
A week or so ago it was mentioned by fellow Vanagon owner that he encountered downed trees blocking the road and he used his Folding Sven Saw to clear the way.
That got me to thinking about my Dad's old saw he carried in his Old Bay Window Westy for years and years.
I dug it out anticipating to find a Sven Saw but instead had a Palco in my hands.
They looked so much alike except for color that I searched out the Patent number and found that it is Sven Saw's patent.
They must have licensed it.
Anyway, it needed a new blade, dull and rusty, that's what 50-60 years does to steel.
I ordered a new one from Sven Saw.......
The Sven Saw blade is a perfect fit.
I now carry this old folding saw daily, for fallen trees around here are not uncommon.
I now think of Dad every time I get in the Van and see it sitting there, folded up waiting to be used.

Have you considered simply starting with a nicer bus? I don't know what your skills are, but the race is easier if you can see the finish line. If you are not a runner, don't start off doing a marathon. |

Nice thoughts.
My Father did just about everything himself. He had every tool imaginable although he rarely bought a tool from a store. Most every tool he had came from yard sales. I have quite a few of those tools now and I think of him every time I pick one up. It's a comforting way to honor him and brings back good memories.
I like your saw. Great idea, ill be on the look out for one. _________________ Marc

A former boss of mine gave me a Sven Saw back in the late 90's. I still have it, still use it, and still carry it in my truck everyday. It has helped me get out of situations many times.
It might not be the best of all options, it might not have the most comfortable handle, but it works every time. Your Dad was a smart man. _________________ nothing |

No doubt the recipient will call up the band, dance a jig, show their skills.
Don’t be cross if they cut across your yard to get the Christmas table. _________________ .ssS! |

I needed one on Route 8 in NW CT the other day.
Whole tree down in road on blind curve. About four of us managed to get one lane open after 30 minutes of tugging _________________ .ssS! |
