Buying a new set of Empi Cosmo wheels. They will be going on a stock 70 Beetle. First thing is will my stock 165/80 r15 tires be ok on these rims if I want to use them. I know these are a little wider rim.
I read in the forum someone used 175/55r15 on the front and 190/60r 15 on the rear. I would like to use a little larger tires but don't want to mess up gearing or speedometer reading.
Anyone have suggestions for tire size?

Those tires sizes are more for a lowered bug. You can use your stock size tires. For more modern tire designs, try 185/65r15.

These tires would be a hair wider and a hair taller. Would that be correct? Didn't know if my stock tires would work. Do you think my tires on the rims would make them look wider? Thanks

185/65 is wider and a little shorter.
Basically, it’s 185mm wide. Stock is 165mm wide.
