USPS is a broken pile & should be privatized. 14 days to get from Bugshields in LA to My corner of the state. 14 days!

But the windshield did arrive intact and will fit perfectly. Thanks Dino.

FedEx wanted 630 bucks to ship 15 lbs of fiberglass parts 800 miles. And they were the cheapest!!! I am driving down there this weekend to get them. Grrrrr!

Speaking of "the weekend" I acquired Christmas tree cutting permits for the National Forest. The end game is to expose the grandkids to hiking out & cutting their own tree, but this weekend will be "pre-running" & looking for suitable examples.

Be safe everybody.

So another hobby  :2gunfire: has slowed me down just a little bit..., oh ya... and Christmas cost a buck or two... Embarassed

But the ball is still rolling. I have been in touch with one of our vendors about building a roll cage for me, and we have a date nailed down. As I have no motor yet, the buggy will be trailered to the fab shop. I spent part of Sunday making sure the body, windshield and hood were bolted down solid for the trip. First time outside of the garage since the purchase back on Memorial day...

So I got some "for your approval" photos from the roll cage fabricator last night, and I'm right pleased with the outcome. It was just as I asked for!

So I took off from work on Friday & made the trip up to Chico to pick up the buggy. It's quite the pain in the ass at 2 1/2 hours each way, but Bryan at Late Night Air Cooled did a fantastic job. Thanks very much Bryan. Much appreciated, I couldn't be happier with the results.

I thought you were gonna pass me in the build. My motor is back from machine shop and all parts are ready to put together. Paint is done. Once the motor is done and plumbed then I get to start electrical. DMV might be a pain but hopefully my paperwork is in order.

No new pics to show off, but Sunday morning (0600) when the house is quiet & I can't sleep anyways, I decided to put fluid in my new brake system & bleed brakes. Me & a bungee cord to hold the pedal down while I cracked open the bleeders, then run... well... walk back to the pedal & pump it a couple more times. All told it probably took an hour & I have a firm pedal. I love it when a plan comes together! Cool

So I scored a cooler, fan and AN hose & fittings at the Bug-o-rama over Memorial Day, along with some other items. The newish cooler will be used in conjunction with an OEM doghouse cooler. Looking at mounting it under the "back seat". I found some scrap angle iron in the shop, and knocked together the first rev. of my cooler mount. It's fairly "industrial" looking, but I believe it will hold a cooler. The angle will be welded to the torsion tube and the cooler "floated" on rubber isolators. Waddya think Sambanistas?
