Not sure if it applies to your year, but you can see the black mat that was supplied with the reproduction rubber I got from the guy who makes them:

Sounds (or doesn't sound-?) Great; went to the site and looks good. I'm going to see if Summit has it since I am about 30 minutes from their main shop - HDQ. Let me ask you your opinion, even if I use the deadening material; "You see any problem, concerns with coating the pans with the "Rubberized Product" I mentioned; I'm simply looking for opinions. Thanks. |

OK; here's the deal. Ghia is still at the Tech shop having the new wiring harness installed - Tech had some other projects and I told Rich I wasn't in a hurry to get the Ghia back home (Winter in Ohio - tough to get her in the back garage) so it is sitting in his nice and warm shop - BUT - when I do get the Ghia, my next step is to start on the interior (no interior, headliner, door panels in it now). I know I can easily order the entire kit online but since it is a Clean Slate I started to think, why not do a cool, custom look. Make the door panels myself and work on the headliner. I have been seeing where a lot of Hot Rod or Custom guys use Headliner Board - has anybody ever had experience with Headliner Board or any flexible board for a headliner? |

OK; Ghia is getting there; harness almost complete; once done I'll be inserting all the gauges and switches; Told my tech no rush and I was simply pleased he stored it in his shop over the Ohio winter; it's been a tuff one. Anyway question, request for the group: While doing the work (wiring) tech found (you never know what you'll find on a 48 year old vehicle that had "many hands" on it) that the one front turn signal "bulb insert" was repaired using aluminum foil....so now the question is: 1. Can't track down the bulb insert section alone, any suggestions as to where one might find one. 2. Anyone ever do a repair or replacement on the insert itself. Look forward to the replies. Note: I'll try to get some pics which may better understand the problem and post them. Thanks. |

Yes; I looked through the Samba Classifieds, didn't find any bulb insert or turn signal completes, thanks for the reply |

Ghia coming along. As for the turn signal bulb inserts; I'll probably grab any type of insert and wire them in, shouldn't be too difficult. As for the Ghia, it's coming along - Tech is doing a great job with the new harness and fixing any other concern he runs across.

OK, been some time but I'm back. Got the Ghia about two weeks ago back from the Techs shop, harness installed, all breaks replaces, a bunch of little hoses and clamps replace with correct ones, and a number of little items corrected, and put back on. She sat all winter but was warm and cozy.
Now the interior, gauges installation begins.
Finally got the Ghia in the back garage to start the interior work.
Took me a week to get everything out to make room - the trick was to get everything out that was crowding up the space, get it back in without getting rid of anything, and make more space, sort of like a "Magic Trick"; just got far too much sh&t, sorry, stuff!
Took so long because:
- Wife's cataract surgery, prep, etc.
- Consulting work got a little busy.
- + - I really messed up my back, pain, can't stand up straight, and instead of resting, I'm up on the roof clearing gutters, hauling stuff in and out of the garage, building a ceiling hanging shelf to put the sh%t , oops sorry, stuff back in the garage, then under the Ghia, jacking it up, then attempting to shoehorn it in the garage. Not something one should do with a bad back!
Oh well, she's in, let the work begin. |

Glad your making good progress. Your car looks well worth the work. I can totally relate to your garage space. It can be tough staying organized in this hobby. Even tougher when my memory doesn't want to cooperate. _________________ Marc

Yea; the space is a concern but I made half the back shop a "Man Cave" and left this section for any cars, MCs, or whatever; not big enough. Oh well, it will work, for now, had a number of cars back there: MGB, Older 60s Bug, Ford Maverick, little tight but do-able.
Check out my other post questioning rebuilding, and repairing the clock, if you have any knowledge, or suggestions I would appreciate it.
Later; |
