I was hoping some of you could help me with the following questions regarding Mann Industrial Air Filters:

- Is it acceptable / advisable / kosher to use Mann Industrial Air Filters with dual carb set ups on vintage speed 36hp motors?

- Does anyone have links to a DIY article on how to restore these filters? I looked on The Samba but could not find anything.

- Has anyone modified these filters to accept modern filtration instead of the horse hair / fiber that was originally used? Are there any other worthwhile modifications to make them perform better? Essentially I want the vintage look but adequate breathing.

Thanks.

Thank you for the reply. Did your restore your filters (paint, etc) after you cleaned them? Any suggestions on dealing with the filter material?

Thanks again.

Not Mann filters, but like Kadrons, my type 3 carbs have a center stud mounting. I stared with some cheap 4" filters and then found at a resterant supply store some stainless drop-in holders that came in several sizes that can be made into air cleaner covers.
