Not quite understanding the question. Do you mean same for the wagon and the sedan? A squareback is normally describing a type 3.

There is always confusion on the type 4 bumpers....
415 707 103- front bumper only part number before 1974
The rear bumpers are a little confusing…like the paragraph was written backwards or someone did not know how to use tabs on a type writer. This is exactly how it is written and spaced. The model and years I added in red in the 2nd copy.
311 707 303- bumper, rear
To chassis # 412 2100 000
Use:
To chassis # 410 2100 000
For model 411, 412, 421, 422, 461, 462
311 707 401
311 707 303 A – bumper rear
From chassis # 413 2000 001
So……
311 707 303- bumper, rear
To chassis # 412 2100 000 (this chassis # starts from 7-31-1972 so the rear bumper 311 707 303 is used on 411 “UP TO” 7-31-1972)
Use:
To chassis # 410 2100 000 (this chassis # starts from 7-31-1970 so the rear bumper 311 707 303 is used on 411 “UP TO” 7-31-1970…..so this would be from very early on 411…and they mean to use the bumper impact strip part # 311 707 401 below)
For model 411, 412, 421, 422, 461, 462
311 707 401 -this part # is the rubber impact strip
Model breakdown:
411-Two door sedan “L”, left hand drive
412-Two door sedan “L” right hand drive
421-Four door sedan “L” left hand drive
422-Four door sedan “L” right hand drive
461-Squareback sedan (variant) “L” left hand drive
462- Squareback sedan (variant) “L” right hand drive
311 707 303 A – bumper rear
From chassis # 413 2000 001 (This chassis # starts from 8-1-1972 and is the first of the 412 cars)
This is a nice site with a nice date chart
https://www.type4.org/technology/chassisnumbers.html
All of that being said…..
311 707 303 = Airhead parts lists this for
Ghia convertible: 1972-1974
Ghia coupe: 1972-1974
Type 3: 1970 to 1973
https://airheadparts.com/vw-parts/vw-body-parts/bumpers/rear-bumpers/
311 707 303 A = I am not sure exactly what the “A” difference is but the “Recycled Jack” website list them as 1972 to 1974 Ghia “square style”…which I assume means the later model of type 3 bumper with less curvature?
Here are some Samba links for your reading pleasure based around part # 311 707 303
