VW bus crash, it was a test of the crash system, the vw was loaded with 1 ton of concrete then slammed into the crash simulator at 100mph, normally crashes are conducted at MAX 60mph unlaiden. as you can see the crash simulator stands upto the impact very well!

If you are in a truck loaded with concrete and you smash into a wall at 100mph, you're done for, whatever kind of truck you're in.

Most likeley not survivable, but wierd things happen.

I'd be willing to bet that when this picture was taken that the driver, or what was left of him, was still inside the car.

Nice catch, I see the Porsche head now.

I guess you really can put a Porsche engine in there, until you wreck and it flies out.

It’s a well known fact that when a car crashes and the engine flies out, the hood always points in the direction of the motor. So by virtue, that is the engine to the car in the photo.

Perhaps if the brakes had been upgraded it would still be on the road...

Thanks for the link. I just read the Road and Track repudiation of the Nader report and it is one of the best pieces of automotive journalism I have ever read.

I would think that it possible had porsche breaks on it as this was the legal way in Sweden if you increased the hp. Looks like it's raining in the photo so possible it lost track.

The photo is taken from "tekniken idag" (=technics today") from 1963. There was no information about the car or the accident but the chapter was about the dangers in tuning a car and the problems you coud get with authorities.

Looks like a sunroof as well, would have been a sweet car until the accident.

I hate to ever think I would crash my baby, but if it ever does happen, I don't want a steering wheel in my chest, or be impaled by the shaft. That would pretty much ruin my day.

I did a search for this mod but didn't find anything. Do you know of any Dr?

I know this comment was 11 years ago, but did you ever figure that out? I was wondering about the same modification .

A 67 is not a modern car, with airbags and disc brakes.

Wear your seatbelt. Stay vigilant and keep your head on a swivel when deriving a vintage VW.

Given the engine's desirability, and the car's terminal state, it's possible that it had just been removed and set down there.
