I guess the slider option is not too popular. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

Good for the seller, it was worth more! Try again on a weekend. |
I think you get one shot to sell on BAT. no relisting unless a winning bidder turns out to be bust. The bad bidder then gets banned for life on BAT i believe. Def worth more. |
According to the BAT FAQ
https://bringatrailer.com/faq/#collapse-can-i-relist-my-car-if-it-doesnt-sell
Quote: |
A reserve is the minimum price that a vehicle will sell for. We work with sellers to set reasonable reserves, and avoid vehicles with reserves that are not realistic. Reserve values are not shown on the listing, nor do we announce when reserves have been met (we think that leads to bidding games). |
Quote: |
Generally speaking we don’t like to re-list a vehicle if it doesn’t sell. A listing tends to have the most interest when it is fresh to market. |
That would imply a relisting is not impossible, they just don't like it. That double slider should get another chance. _________________ "OG = Original German" -- TheSamba.com dictionary |

This ego trip paying these prices only makes it harder for the regular guy who just loves buses, harder to own one. |
That is a big problem for buses and the bus scene. Since some of them are super valuable and all of them are valuable, nobody can get in on the low end, and many people who are already in are tempted to take the money and run and get out. We lose plenty of good people from the scene and from just general bus ownership (most bus owners are not in our bus scene, they just like the buses). We are left with the most dedicated people and people with the means to get in to be bus owners. All that said, many many people get out of buses and then go blow a similar amount of money on a depreciating modern car. If someone is dedicated and wants to spend regular car money on a bus, they can own one. The poor folks are pretty much out at this point. |
With regard to that BAT auction bringing 175k for that particular bus, as far as I can see it was nothing more than 3 people with a LOT of disposable income; 2 of the 3 with a bit more disposable income than the third that decided they'd like to own a VW bus, money not an object. |
You're missing the part where it was "built" by one of if not the best VW body shops. I don't think people outside of the scene understand that enough. There are a million body shops but only a handful can do a bus correctly. The rest might as well be a guy with a welder and a grinder in his back yard 🤣 |
I think too many people dismiss the work and expense involved in bringing a typically worn out bus to that level. Luckily there are some people who don’t and are willing to support that end of the hobby by cutting fat checks. |
Totally agree. This bus wasn't even that worn out, but it's still a ton of work to finish a bus to that level. Lots of people (mostly local haters) gave Corey a lot of shit for that bus -> https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=533880 |

Are those bug rims? I don't see the vents. No lower rocker trim. Should have pointed bumpers. Where's the church key hole and cover for tank flap?

What a rare and cool bus. It needs a few things changed out to be totally correct but still. Anyone want to guess what price it sells for.
My guess is $132,500 |
The rear sliding door levers should be in chrome finish for the deluxe version... |

Covers for the door mechanism missing. The part under the window on sliding door should be covered with blue vinyl not with headliner material.
Covers on top sliding rail and rail guide missing (both sides).
Poor headliner install.
Vinyl on parceltray missing.
Wrong cable routing. Note: Hot wire running through tube and clamps without protection...
A very unique bus, but unfortunately poorly done in my opinion. Not a 100K+ restoration. |

I’m assuming mostly original paint since the seller notes the right rear was repainted. If so, this is one of the nicest preserved buses I’ve ever seen.

Wow, that is nice. Curious to see how a panel does at auction, as I’ll be posting my ‘58 walk through panel there in the not too distant future. Although, mine’s not stock. |

One of the nicest buses I’ve seen on BAT, not a whole lot of money for that all things considered.
Look at this shiny turd. I suspect this guy will get very defensive about it, but whoa, check out the passenger compartment floor.
