After a quick search, you need a license to hunt on public lands, but not private land (as long as you have owners permission) The license is only $26 bucks though.
If you are allowed to harvest and sell the skins, that will probably be paid back on the first snake. There also may be a bounty paid to you by Florida fish and game.
Now that was a quick search. Find out the laws for certain. You don't want to run foul of Fish and Game. Heavy fines or even jail time can be levied.
But since the python is an evasive species, I'm sure the laws are pretty lax. Florida has been fighting this creature for years now and it's can be devastating to native species.
But how cool would it be to have snakeskin seats in your VW?? |

invasive species
On the other hand if the pythons are evasive, they will be tough to find !!! _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. Spelling isn't my strongest attribute. Not quite as bad as Mark Tucker
But I'd imagine they are invasive and evasive. |

I spent many years surveying the Everglades National Park, Big Cypress, conservation areas 3A and 3B and many other parts. It is heart breaking to see and hear about most mammals being wiped out by the pythons. I saw my 1st python skeleton on a dirt road back in the late '80s, it must have been 12' long. They were not as wide spread back then. Unfortunately I feel they will never be eradicated as I have seen the most remote and hard to reach areas that most people will never access. Irresponsible pet owners suck.

So one question I have, you see these shows where they catch them live and bag them, turning them in somewhere to get paid. Why don't they just shoot them 1st ? It seems like that would be way safer. _________________ Tom

By capturing them alive they can be released in an area where there is a Python shortage. |

Fun fact. Most snakes communicate with other species of snakes, but Pythons only talk to other Pythons. Code, apparently. _________________ .ssS! |

I’m not even sure how a Python can carry a gun, let alone hunt, basically They don’t hear very well and when they are near people they don’t Seem plussed about it. _________________ .ssS! |
