Frank Condelli sells it, in Canada. Not sure if that helps you. _________________ '90 Little Blue Truck, 2WD auto, FAS GenV 2.0 NA (AVH) |

Some SS kits here. Perhaps what you need can be sourced here if you ask? _________________ 1986 Wolfsberg Limited Edition Vanagon.

I was less than impressed with the stainless replacement screws. The VW fasteners usually have a larger head on the fastener to displace the load and the tool tightening them has more contact area. The screws also have more wobble in them when started in the hole giving less contact area and I only used parts of the kits. If I had to do it again I would have the original fasteners replated, much of the factory hardware has been going back on as time passes. |

Zinc plated is better unless unless galvanic corrosion dosn't bother you.
My original screws are painted black. Maybe you can get zinc zip nuts and zinc screws from McMaster Carr. |

I bought just standard SAE 316 SS screws at the marine hardware store. Lowes or HD or Ace SS screws are magnetic and will rust. Take a magnet with you when you shop. If they hang on to the mag walk away.
Pull one from each area you want to replace and then match up diameters and lengths in the store. I did front turn signals and side markers as well.

(from a sailor) true,,,,and its always an application/cost balance Sometimes the cheap stuff is just fine. Sometimes the expensive stuff is wasted money as its more than needed to accomplish the objective.
PS ALL "stainless" rusts/corodes in some way, its just how it shows up is different. _________________ 83.5 Westy with Subaru 2.5, 4 spd manual, center seat, COLD A/C on 134a!, Winter camp heated with an Espar B4 gasoline furnace

Don't bother with HD or Lowes. Go to Ace and buy the screws and not a bunch of plastic blister packs!
I really hate dealing with the big box stores as they have become.
We don't have Ace hardware where I live and whenever I go to Kalispell in Montana it's one of my first stops, and Ace isn't what it used to be.
I miss real hardware stores!
In Seattle there was Tacoma Screw Products (are they still in business?).

some screws are hard to duplicate with the proper cheese head and thread pitch. for those on the exterior and engine bay, a good brushing on a wire wheel and spraying this on works well for several years in the salty North...

Different choice of heads. Like the square drive as no one else uses them.
Here are some sexy ones in 18-8 with is below 316 in corrosion resistance.but is far, far better that HD stuff and would work well except next to seashore or road salt environments.

Where I use to live there was a hardware store that had an excellent selection of metric stuff, only available in SS. I just went in there and matched things up. These are pan head screws in, my favourite, Robertson. No more stripping stupid Philips screws for me.
