I have my dash and front heater out. Do you think it would be safe to place an aluminum screen or mesh in-between the heater and the bulk-head. I have no leaves or anything in the heater so I don't think much stuff gets in there (just dust). I'm trying to stop critters from getting in.
Thanks,

you need to keep Satan's Little Helpers out of the fan motor to keep their urine from corroding the fan bushing so put your screen right over the outside air intake sheet metal. use aluminum mesh so you can fold it over tightly leaving absolutely no gaps. then use copper or stainless scrubby pads and fill any other gap you can find around the air intake. any spot you can put the tip of your pinky in is large enough for them to cause ruination. _________________ -dan

Absolutely! I cut a section of galvanized 1/4 inch hardware cloth to fit between the box and body. I attach the hardware cloth with some 3M window weld (urethane). Cover the joint with duct or Gorilla tape to keep the urethane covered. Then install the box.
The advantage to this location is that it is flat. Each of my T3s has this modification. I have made many vehicles highly rodent resistant. They entered my B5 Quattro both through the air intake and cabin filter and the the air outlets under the rear bumper. I had to remove the rear bumper and craft 1/16 stainless hardware cloth to seal the latter.
They can be kept out of the vehicle. But only by a mechanical barrier that they cannot chew through. |
