So since you are having issues with both gauge and light the sensor for that is located in the thermostat housing. It’s the one below the blue ecu one. If I remember it’s yellow, but it’s 4 wires. But my money is on a solder.

That flashing light was a pain for me to fix as I soldered every point about 3 times. Mine was the Solder connection at the plug where it meets the board. It’s a long loop circuit and if it’s not complete it will flash. So it goes from light, to level sensor, to coolant sensor, back through fuse block, and return to light. Lots of points that it can fail.

Thank you for that. I'm thinking the same. The last two laps I've made generated no flashing light or gauge problems. But I suspect the issues will reappear. There was a fella who has a couple of used boards in good condition. If I can get my hands on one, I'm likely to try that. Who even soldered mine, the bottom three points could have done a better job, neater and It's still difficult to tell if the solder from each is touching the others. I'm assuming this could/is contributing to the problem.

Applying pressure outward to the gas pedal(throttle cable) quiets the pulsing idle. I think Ill clean out and lube that line.

I was looking for some pictures of an early T4 instrument board and I came across this thread. The photos clearly show at least two cracked solder joints at the row adjacent to the voltage stabilizer. If someone were to reflow those cracked solder joints I would bet money that reliable gauge function would be restored.
