once upon a time all angled pumps used the short pushrod but that changed in the aftermarket.

back to the fuel pump....Got the new one in today. Turns out the base of the new pump is slightly thinner than the old pump I had. The mechanical lever at the bottom of the fuel pump is actually further up into the body on the older pump. Those two differences make the existing rod too long. I definitely have the right fuel pump, the one for an alternator set up. So that means I need to buy the smaller rod, correct? (the existing rod is 107mm)

See how the lever in the recess of the angled fuel pump extends lower? You need the 100mm length fuel pump pushrod for that.

I have read that some folks have shortened a 107/108mm pushrod and used that....

can anyone confirm the fuel line size (braided hoses) that are used for an autostick / early 70s beetle?? If I am not mistaken, it should be 5mm I.D., right? When I received this, I had three different sizes of hoses, assumed it should have all the same I.D.

Also, the oil fill tube. I am seeing conflicting information. Can anyone tell me is the oil fill tube for this car should have the straight tube that passes down through the tin, or if it should have the end that has bends in it after it passes through the tin. I am seeing oil tubes in the classifieds that both say that they are for this engine, but obviously look different.

crankbait,
Sounds about right. The fuel line spec didn't change much if it fed a carb.

You need to purchase a BREATHER assembly that will fit YOUR tinware. I hope whatever you get is a fully assembled Gen/Alt stand + breather that fits correctly. The gland nut holding the two together can be a major PITA to extract.
