Well, thank goodness photos will be posted by "Thanks Giving". It's probably guaranteed to ship by 2023. _________________ - Jim

More whining about NEW parts...
.
Once again, the quality of "OEM' new parts rears its ugly head!
New engine, new "OEM" Airtex pump (I did not have a JP Group/Febi/Graf on the shelf) installed and PEEING out the weep hole even before the engine cranked.
Unfortunately, even the top brands have shown less than stellar reliability.
Dang.
UPDATE
Installed a HEPU pump and it works as it should...IE - NO LEAKS : )
Airtex finally responded to my two requests for warranty support:
"I apologize for the inconvenience you will need to replace the water pump with another one. I will forward this so we can look into this further. Thanks for informing us of this issue."
Hmm. Lame sauce reply. _________________ It is old and green and it makes me grin.

That's too bad. I've had good success with a number of Airtex fuel pumps in different cars. In fact, they've been so good they're my go to fuel pump brand. _________________ '87 Syncro

I'd put more effort into an ad if I was selling a Vanagon for $5k. I wouldn't even be surprised if they sell the van for that, but put more effort into getting $60k+.... How long does it take to earn $60k? And they can't spend more than 5 minutes writing up the ad? _________________ '87 Syncro

...And this one too...
$40,000
2wd 221,000 miles.
Note the pop-top canvas, probably done "in-house" by dealership prior to selling I am assuming.

I think the top one is extremely nice. If I had the scratch and desire I'd be in contact right away. The bottom one doesn't move me in the slightest, but it only takes one interested party. _________________ Now: 2003 New Beetle Turbo S / 1990 Single Cab Transporter / 2014 Tiguan R-Line 4motion / 2013 Tiguan S / 2002 Golf GLS TDI

I think that’s an extremely clean truck. I’ll give him that. But does anyone expect it to sell for even half of the asking price? The ad is worded to imply there’s going to be a mad rush of buyers lining up to pay a quarter of a million dollars for it.
I would bet there’s a ton of maintenance to be done. Imagine all the rubber and plastic bits that are brittle and at the end of their life, simply because they’re 30 years old.
I don’t know. I guess all it takes is one buyer with deep pockets. |
