What should the diaphragm clutch finger height to flywheel be on a Kenndy stage 1 pressure plate. Just bolted it up with a Daiken B503 disc and have about 20 mm finger height. Wondering if I need to shim the PP to get 23 - 24 mm? _________________ 1965 VW Sedan, 1968 C10 Step BB, 99 C5 |

If something is now required due to a design revision on KEP Pressure plates, including an instruction sheet and a set of shims with a new clutch sure seems to be a cost effective way to preserve/save/rebuild the company's reputation!!!
It's a bummer to see photos of so many jacked-up KEP pressure plates in these threads!!!! _________________ Jesucristo es mi Seņor y Salvador! |

It could easily be the discs are thicker than they used to be.....
It's not too difficult to make a torque shaft and test the holding power to get the ideal distance for the disc thickness.
I shimmed my Pressure plate .031" to get my Stage II to hold 250 plus ft. lbs. of torque. That just happened to be the thickness of some wavy washers I had on hand.....they work great. _________________

Diaphragm spring pressure plates tend to have an area of max clamping force and it falls off on either side.
From what I hear the thing to do with the kennedy pressure plates is set it up to be in the position of max clamping force and the "lever height" will be... whatever will be. I think the spring is supposed to be flat at that point, but if it isn't then oh well, I guess it was only a general guideline.
Often see old style lever type pressure plates for sale in the classifieds.
I'm tempted to buy them all, but I'll limit myself to one spare. |

Thanks, I did a lot of searching, but I missed a couple of those. I don't currently have an old input shaft to check torque with. _________________ 1965 VW Sedan, 1968 C10 Step BB, 99 C5 |
