Can anybody recommend a dual circuit master cylinder for a 53 running drums on all 4 corners?

What prevented you from running a dual circuit MC?

dual circuit is more expensive, a stock-single just bolts right in and I guess i'm not paranoid about brake failure - a good German single circuit lasted over 20 years and when it began leaking, I replaced it - z

does a later dual circuit master not bolt in? i assumed it would. it is worth it to go dual circuit. brake lines will fail, especially on cars not driven frequently. its cheap insurance.

You just need a '67 -'77 beetle MC.

It will bolt in. The biggest challenge is the fluid reservoir. Most people use a dual reservoir but this requires you to pull the drivers side wheel to add fluid because the cap is directly on the reservoir.

It is absolutely worth it. If a single fails, you lose all of your brakes. With a double you will have either your fronts or rears depending on what failed. Sometimes a MC will fail catastrophically, sometimes it is a gradual failure. It's a roll of the dice.

"absolutely"? - a single can catastrophically fail (which rarely happens) - guess this just doesn't concern me - if it concerns you - fine - put a double in...

of coarse it will "bolt right in" - that's not what I meant - my poor choice of words - Meant, it will bolt right in, ready to connect, bleed and use, without challenges - most of all, i'm not paranoid, in the possible event brake failure, with use of a single circuit MC -

Also, kind of humorous that you guys balk at others installing non-original parts, like bigger and brighter tail lights - yet a 1967 to '77 MC is okay - Go ahead, use the later MC and I hope you feel safer … COOL- z

Im also going dual, but im also switching to 58-64 drums as its wider and therefore gives alot more braking power.

You can buy a mastercylinder with a reservoir on it and use the original one as a dummy. Looks original that way.

Also its alot cheaper to replace a part with the 58-64 drums.

If you use a single circuit MC just make sure you get a good quality German one. I've had 2 brand new Trw units that were bad right outta the box, both purchased from WW
