All,
Replacing rear left backing plate. Paid a little more for a C & C aftermarket. Appears well made and accurate. However, there is a protruding dowel on the backing plate just below the two mounting holes. Unlike the original which has a hole to receive a dowel
Obviously, the original backing plate has a hole that attaches to the dowel on the trailing arm. The dowel on the trailing arm looks permanent. Is this dowell supposed to be removed somehow.
Stumped…..

It's a pressed in dowel, grab it with vise grips and twist/pull to remove one or the other. Sometimes they stick in the plate, sometimes they stick in the housing.
Since we don't know how the repro one is attached I'd focus on the one in the bearing housing myself, I know that one will come out. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Got it. Didn’t want start tearing up the dowel without making sure.
Doused it with PB Blaster and punched it out.
Thanks |
