Now that I feel a little better that he didnt find a red flag, I am going to slowly move forward on redoing some items. Nothing major I still have to wait to talk to the "expert" CHP officer who is the vintage car guy.
Needed a little hair cut. |

My friend's Chimp has a full cage that appears to be original to the car. The windshield fits into the front hoop, but is fold-down.
Note that the back braces and the roof bars are not original. The roof bars were new when the body got put on a stock pan due to damage in the rear horns modified for Corvair. Since the owner was a great big guy he needed more cockpit space. The rear bars were changed at the same time. Some previous owner had hacked the rear bars and welded in water pipe. So I didn't know how it was originally and built it to suit the the owner. His son doesn't want to change it now from how his dad had the car. _________________ Richard

Thank you Dustymojave,
Is this Chimp Corvair powered? I think I know how I am going to set up the rear and place a proper roll cage. I kinda like the fact that rear hatch can come off. |

VW power. Originally built for Corvair. Long since converted due to the un-supported and modified yokes having failed.
The grandkids were pretty fond of the stuffed fella in the back. _________________ Richard

I can't say how incredible Volkswagens have tested time again and again.
Recently came up on my Facebook.
I have to remember to take vids and pics for restoration for sure.
