Not many aircraft have air filters either. Is seems that maybe the dust particles found at the altitude of clouds (where snow comes from) are not large enough to be of concern?

Melt a pail of snow and check how much mud is in the bottom!

September 1st, Hurricane Ida, thin but Biblical swarth of the heaviest rain that came down so fast and so hard I finally understood what "Flash Flood" really meant.

Just 15-20 minutes worth and an outside storage basement immediately filled-up with 5 feet of water, the pumps could do nothing.
My barely 2 year old HSS928, the pride of the Honda line was under it. After draining oil, fuel, water from the engine and carb after pulling the spark-plug she started right up.

Warmed-up and changed the oil twice until it didn't look milky. So higher than the top of the handles in the picture.

BUT YEAH... no air filter.

I was just being pedan-Dick. The dust density in snow is so small it’s meaningless.

Snowblower engines don’t have air filters for good reasons. People overprime Them to start them in the cold, and an air filter could get saturated with gas. Dust usually isn’t an issue for winter use in snow. I used to work for riggs and Stratton. You don’t need to use the primer at all unless the regular choke isn’t enough to start it when really cold.
