Getting ready to remove the spring plates. Reading Bentley, it shows using a prybar to lever it over the stop. To reinstall it shows a spring compressor type tool to pull the spring plate up onto the stop. I'm wondering how much force is on the spring plate when I lever it off the stop? Is it going to tear my arm off when it goes?
What do you guys do when removing it? |

Relax, it will be fine. Just make sure no body parts are below it that can get wacked. I've hit my leg once or twice back in the day. _________________

it is manageable. Make sure you mark it top and bottom first so it can go back in the same place. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

Don’t take the bolts all the way out of the cover, just loosen them. With the bus on jack stands and the hub body removed from the spring plate, put your floor jack under the end of the spring plate and jack it up a little bit. Then bang your pry bar in, give it a wiggle and then release the floor jack. By not removing the spring plate cover all the way the plate won’t come flying at you. It’s really not that hard of a job, just time consuming.
Good luck. _________________ __________
