I searched the forums and couldn't find any topics relating to skin removal from a quarter panel. In my case, I have a rotted left rear quarter panel on a 73 Ghia convertible and I would like to pull the skin from a donor quarter panel and replace. My donor quarter panel is coming from a full left rear quarter panel taken from a coupe. The panel area that I would like to replace is outlined below the "RED" line in the picture. I would prefer to simply cut out the old quarter panel skin and replace with same from the donor. My question is how/where to start with the removal. I've read that the skin is sealed against the post with solder (or other) and then spot welded on the back. I have no problems with spot weld removal, but how do I remove skin around the post. Has anyone out there done this? I would really like your advice and any suggestions you might have. Thanks in advance
