Stupid wiring question

Ignition to coil + pos. and distributor to coil - negative. is that correct?
I gotta take better notes.

correct! Some coils have a 15 on them for the positive. The coil wire is labeled 15 in the schematics too. It's switched at the ignition and was not fused anywhere. It was also used to run the Automatic Choke on carbs that have them and idle fuel shut off solenoid carbs with them. It was also used for backup lights etc.

So I am correct in assuming the wire to the distrbutor get connected to The neg on the coil ? Sorry for my ignorance.

NEGATIVE ground, YES. Positive ground is the opposite.

REMEMBER:

1, The HOT wire comes from the battery, through the ignition switch.

2, The COLD wire comes from GROUND, through the distributor, distributor plate, points frame and points contact.

3, Some coils have no markings.

4, Coil OUTPUT is always HOT.
