Hey guys, getting the heater box back in and have a question about attaching the cable on the bottom right closest to the front. I don't see anywhere a clamp would go that is obvious. I don't see any photos in all the other threads.
Where is this c
able anchored? _________________ '89 Syncro Doka |

I missed the Doka model in your sig under those images. In one of your images, it appears foot, defrost cables are secured. Is third cable for flap to control air through to body ducting to rear? Do you have a diesel? Does that [edit: or Syncro] make a difference in box type?
Images, info here might help:

My 2 control flap type box. It has a block off plate at large openings to air channels in body. Ignore the white sealant. Don't know if the factory even sealed box at that join (at inside of join).
"3rd" cable mount details
defrost, foot heat flap levers etc

Thanks for that reply. I'm an idiot, I see the place to clamp that cable, it's on the rear of the box. I thought that cable came from the passenger or rear, but the place for the clamp would indicate it comes from the rear of the box, or at the front of the truck. In the photo I have it backasswards.
It is a Syncro Doka, I should have made that clear.

Or not the back of the box but rather the top. _________________ '89 Syncro Doka |

Cool.
I guess the crucial factor is to make sure the cable doesn't make any "tight" turns.
My '81 heater cable (van was air cooled) used to poke out from hole in dash; connecting it to a lever at dash was a job I'd ignored. I tried it with a ~ 150º turn to dash lever. The cable moves but it feels like it has too much friction. i.e. that cable may kink at some point.
I'd think that having control of air to rear of your Doka would be nice for passengers.

Hello all. Getting everything wrapped up to get the dash back on, hopefully this weekend. I still have questions about the heating cable routing and attachment. When I was getting the lever plate back on a cable, the one that opens the floor vents, popped off. I want to make sure I get it back in the right spot and also get the cables in the right place. It's an 89 Doka.
As you know, there are a couple of holes in the levers, and as you also know, things generally work out best if the right holes is chosen. This might be a valid point for many things in life, but I digress.
So where should the cables go around the box. I believe I have the longest cable right, it goes on the top as it is. The others not so sure. They work as they should with the levers but I want them to be how they were from the factory.
Here is the top of the lever plate, is it correct?
And the bottom one that had popped off.
Cheers. _________________ '89 Syncro Doka |

Hi.
I've got the 4 lever box out of my '88 Westy. I have good reason to believe it's all original, unmolested. If you want, I can post pics of levers, cables.
In general, secure cable, see which side of lever it's parallel to, insert cable into hole that best allows cable to travel in a "straight line".
