Movie "Double Nickels" (1977) filmed in the Los Angeles, California area. Car chase scene where the main car (just visible on road) passes this blue/white Splittie bus/camper that's in a small parking lot/gas station. |

Just saw the "prequel" to the "Sopranos" on the theater big screen "The Many Saints of Newark" and there's a pre-1964 painted Cumulus White over Sea Blue Kombi that meets a flaming end during a street ambush shoot-out. It looks like the driver was hit and the bus careens into a flaming car. Couldn't find any screen grabs of the scene on the 'net....but a 'stunt bus' in that great Hollywood tradition goes out in a blaze of glory... |

1987 American TV show McGyver, season 2, episode 22 named "For Love or Money". MacGyver (Richard Dean Anderson) and a female agent he despises (actress Deborah Adair) are sent to Czechoslovakia, posing as a married couple to infiltrate a psychiatric hospital there to free a human rights activist. The agent receives a neglected Citroen 2CV from her local contact as her transportation, and drops off MacGyver at the hospital. The single-cab pickup is carrying supplies for the hospital. Appears to have large round "trailer" taillamps. MacGyver is about to walk up the stairs to improvise his access to the activist. The black "stick" at right is the windshield wiper as seen from inside the 2CV.
Red early Splittie van parked seen behind Ofcrs Malloy and Reed (Martin Milner, Kent McCord) in Adam-12 "Log 56: Vice Versa" S3E23, 1971. Malloy almost always is driving the patrol car, but due to his driver's license having expired the day before, Reed drives. White Squareback on right; I have a better photo of it in my gallery.
"Batman The Movie" 1966, based on the TV series; with Adam West and Burt Ward as crimefighters Batman and Robin. They pass a deluxe Splittie driving while in their Batmobile.
Same movie- a Velvet Green Splittie camper drives by in background as the Dynamic Duo "crash" land their Batcopter due to having lost control by a near-miss of a submarine-based missile fired by The Penguin. |

"The Racing Scene" (1969) documentary. Well known American actor James Garner (Maverick, Grand Prix, The Rockford Files, and so many more) was a car enthusiast and versatile, skilled amateur race car driver. He created his own racing team American International Racers (AIR) in the late 1960's. Garner produced, and narrarated this documentary of his car life. Many VWs are seen. Red Splittie ambulance at scene of a race car crash, Circuit Mt.- Tremblant (aka Saint Jovite) near Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Race was either 1968 or 1969. |

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but the opening scene in The Killing Fields has a nice double door ambulance that looked nice. Probably a 63. Sorry no clip, but in the first 3 minutes. |
Somehow there were posted in the bay window forum.

"Double Trouble" (1984), filmed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Stars Bud Spencer and Terence Hill. The two are being driven away from the airport in a white Rolls Royce and pass a light blue full Splittie Kombi (?) on the road.
In another Spencer/Hill movie "Crime Busters" (1977), filmed in the Miami, Florida area there's a Splittie panel van camper conversion parked in background.
Again in Spencer/Hill movie "Odds and Evens" (1978) also filmed in Miami, a blue/white Splittie panel van camper conversion parked. |
